BURIED IN THE BACK OF THE IHL DAILY.
The IHL regular season has ended. 8 Teams are on to the playoffs, and a chance at glory. Heartbreaking misses by teams such as Vancouver and Moscow resonate the league over. New York and Paris leading their respective conferences, millions wait in anticipation for battle.
Meanwhile. in the depths of Eastern Europe, the GM of the Bratislava Slovan HC has quietly packed his bags and gone on a scouting trip. With only one pick in the coming draft year, the Bratislava GM has turned his eye towards different resources. Pending UFA's and NHL eligibile unnassigned rookies, are the new target for this ambitious strategist.
It is apparent that there are a number of young potential stars that James Kirkpatrick will be investigating. One must wonder however, just how he will court these players. Many media pundits in Slovakia have panned his trading of Chris Drury, and questioned his ability to take this downtrodden team to the promised land. Is this a team that will be attractive to up and coming breakout stars, or will Bratislava be given the cold shoulder as Kirkpatrick desperately attempts to right the ship?
One thing is for sure, this determined GM is going to do everything he can to make it a matter of pride and respect to be a Slovan.
