The Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks came together on a deal early this evening that will see Alexander Radulov head to Winnipeg. In return, Tom Gilbert will be on his way to Chicago. Winnipeg GM Kris Skworchinski had these comments on the deal:
"We know alot of people will say we overpaid for a guy that won't even be in the NHL next year, but it was a chance we could afford to take. With Burns, Suter, Niskanen, Kronwall on the blueline already, we could move Gilbert to fill a need up front for a scoring winger. Gilbert will be a tough player to lose but we feel the chance we took on Radulov could pay off big in the end."
Skworchinski has also said that he hopes to move some other players to fill a need on the left side. He hopes to find new homes for a couple goalies, and possibly some other roster talent.
